Antenna Booster Replacing

This is the first step to fix the crap FM reception of my BMW, after fitting an Alpine CDE-9873RB headunit. I replaced the OEM booster with another OEM booster of later production date.

Booster is located behind rear passenger light

Remove the light by inserting a flat screw driver on one of its sides and prying out. Disconnect the power plug. Behind the light there is a T25 screw that needs to be removed. Then pull the liner until it unclips from the top part. The bottom part is just squeezed in place.

Here's the antenna booster. It is held by two T25 screws. One of them (bottom) was a PITA to remove due to its awkward position. I had to use a combination of tools to get it out.

The newer booster:

Its only difference is that it lacks the aux. antenna plug found in the older BMWs. Since we are using an aftermarket Headunit, the aux antenna is not needed.

Insert in place, connect all cables (except the aux. antenna)  and reverse procedure to insert screws, liner and passenger lights.

After taking the time to do the replacement, I found out that my reception has not improved. Next step is to replace the antenna wire to the headunit.
